Mikey and I met Jeff and Blake at In-n-Out for the last meal, and that was definitely a blessing. After that, we went to the Provo temple, where we found Max Esplin and Brittany, Matthew, and Lucy met us there too.
After that, Mikey and I went to the MTC, and while I was nervous, I felt good, and I was panicking like I was earlier in the day. We put our stuff in the room and then went to class. My spanish training has definitely come in handy, and I can understand about 90% of what the teacher is saying, and it has been a great blessing being able to help those that have not been taking spanish or do not remember it.
The past few days have been great, and I have not felt sad or distressed. I know that it is the comforting spirit, and I have been so grateful for it. Also, I'm amazed at the amount of progression that my language skills have been sharpened, all thanks al don de lenguas, or gift of tongues. It is real, and we have had some cool experiences with feeling the spirit and prayer. Direction regarding lessons and how and what to study have come by the whisperings of the spirit, and we had a great first lesson yesterday, IN SPANISH! At the end of the lesson, we tried to get our investigator to commit to pray, and she started telling us why she doesn't pray in spanish. I could understand and respond fairly easily, and she committed to pray each day personally for this next week!
So everyone has all these district and companion horror stories they told me about before I came on the mission, but not true for me yet. My companion, Elder Hendrickson from Ogden, is a stud, and he works so hard to study and to learn the language. As for my district, they are all amazing, hardworking, spiritual, and hilarious. A lot of comic relief has come from the struggles of learning the language, and it has been fun.
The schedule is long, but interesting. Yesterday, we had in total 10.25 hrs in the same classroom with a few breaks in between. The gym time is great for winding down, and I got to play volleyball for a while. I played on the Hermana's team, and a couple of them could play well and that was super fun.
As for the subject line, the other day during lunch, our district leader came over to where we were sitting and told us about the lunch lady that got mad at him, for asking where the mashed potatoes were, when it was actually rice (Weird, I know). So of course, he asked my companion what are the odds you go ask if the rice was mashed potatoes. They both said two, so Elder Hendrickson boldy stood up and did it, and sure enough, the lunch lady got mad at him and yelled that it was rice haha, the simplest things are so funny here.
So I need a favor, I seemed to have forgotten my mission prep binder, and I have wanted it so bad the past few days haha. So if you could send that, I would be so stoked.
Today we are going to the temple and we get a ton of gym time so I am so excited.
I know that this is where I need to be, and I am so glad to be a respresentative of Jesus Christ, the gifts of the Spirit are real, and I am so grateful!
I love you all so much and have a great week!
